The software tool Sovist is available as of today. The completion was established with a workshop at Tata Steel in IJmijden.
Sovist serves the ever growing market of lighter buildings. Buildings are more and more being constructed with prefab, lightweight building elements as a result of inner city urbanization and the demand for more sustainable buildings. Lightweight constructions meet that demand, but require extra attention from the designers, since noise and vibration disturbance can be more prevailing.
The software tool Sovist was developed to improve the prediction of sound- and noise disturbance in building junctions. The junction refers to the way in which floors, walls and the support structure are connected to each other. Sovist is based on the TNO research of Lichter Bouwen that started in 2003, and is developed for Bouwen met Staal.
The software tool Sovist is available for free. For 50 euro the paid version Sovist Pro can be obtained. Extra funtionality is among other things the possibility to calculate heavier construction nodes.
